Dear Friends in Christ,
These are some prayers, from various sources, which I have found very helpful throughout my time. In addition, every day, I start my days with these simple words, "Thank You, O, Lord, for this day." Then I say my other prayers. At the end of the day. I start my prayers the same way. In addition to these prayers there is a page with prayers for children. You can find it here.
Grant me the Serenity
to accept the things I cannot change.
Courage to change the
things I can, and
Wisdom to know the difference.
I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen
I thank You my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, You dear Son, that You have graciously kept me this day, and I pray that You would forgive me all my sins where I have done wrong, and graciously keep me this night For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. ASKING A BLESSING
The eyes of all look to You, (O Lord,) and You give them their food at the proper time. You open Your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.
Lord God, heavenly Father, bless us and these Your gifts which we receive from Your bountiful goodness, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Watch, dear Lord, with those who wake or watch or weep, and give your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend the sick, rest the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous. In your love, give us all this, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
O Lord, mercifully assist us in our supplications and prayers. Direct the lives of your servants toward the goal of everlasting salvation, that, surrounded by all the changes and uncertainties of life, we may be defended by your gracious and ready help in Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
CARE OF CHILDREN
Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you sent the solitary in families. We commend to your care all the homes where your people live. Keep them, we pray, free from bitterness, from the thirst for personal victory, and from pride in self. Fill them with faith, virtue, knowledge, moderation, patience, and godliness. Knit together in enduring affection those who have become one in marriage. Let children and parents have full respect for one another; and light the fire of kindliness among us all, that we may show affection for each other; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
CARE OF CHILDREN
Almighty God, heavenly Father, you have blessed us with the joy and care of children. As we bring them up, give us calm strength and patient wisdom, that we may teach them to love whatever is just and true and good, following the example of our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
CARE OF CHILDREN
O Eternal God, bless all schools, colleges, and universities and especially Zion Lutheran Early Childhood Center, that the may be lively places for sound learning, new discovery, and the pursuit of wisdom; and grant those who teach and those who learn may find you to be the source of all truth; through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amem.
Lord God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrod-den, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
SHARING THE GOSPEL
O God, increase the faith and energy of your Church to desire and work for the salvation of all people, that they might be freed from sin and that hope be renewed in many hearts, to increase of the kingdom of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
O Lord, mercifully assist us in our supplications and prayers. Direct the lives of your servants toward the goal of everlasting salvation, that, surrounded by all the changes and uncertainties of life, we may be defended by your gracious and ready help in Jesus Christ, Our Lord.
